I Need Engine Experts! 340 Roller Lifter and Pushrod Issue

First.Forget hydraulic rollers. Second, get the lifter bores bashed. You may hear different bit been there done that. Third, get ahold of BAMM Solid roller lifters. Smith Bros will handle your pushrods. THEN ABSOLUTELY call Mike at B3 racing.. Pay the piper once and you'll never go back.

OK. Time to report results. 77 degrees today, low humidity. Took a nice long ride, got it nice and warm. idles at 1150RPM as usual, 13.5 AFR. Good. I do know big(ish) cams like a bit of rich idle. Next, cruising on dead level road, 45 MPH around 2800, AFR mid 12's. 65 MPH, 3300 RPM 12.8 to...

10-32, 3/16 long did the trick for me. just tapped 3/16 into the body, so they'd be snug. getting it back together shortly.

Done. At least it's a start. all four corners starting at .070, since they were so HUGE. I didn't realize once the throttle plate is off, that T slot hole has no communication with the carb body other than the bottom . Easy peasy. blew them out......little brake clean. Nice and tidy. Will keep...

Hope so... carb all apart, everything I need coming tomorrow from good old McMaster Carr. Think I'll try starting at .065. As you suggested.

    MSD bushing

Thanks, T. I'll check them out. Might just make my own.

    MSD bushing

Hi guys! Years ago someone was making and selling 10 degree bushings for the MSD billet distributors. Anyone know if they're still available?

Man I just hate the thought of drilling into that aluminum body. Chips everywhere! Also, do I really need to do the secondary too?

to continue, measured my T slot orifice and was shocked. The pic shows a 060 and 055 pin gauge in there. so it's .115 or so. Seems pretty friggin big if ya ask me, but who knows. Since I'm so rich at cruise RPM, what size should I restrict it to? No idea where to begin.

Well well well. I jetted down the primary from 82 to 77. took a little ride and now cruising at 2600 RPM, level flat ground, I'm now in the 12.4 range. From the 10's. BUT upon brisk acceleration on the primaries only..... BANG! in the 15 range and higher. so take it easy bring it home, and I...

Well, I did machine a bushing for my MSD distrib that should be around 10 degrees. The 18 that they provide(the least amount), is way too much. I think. I don't know how this thing would idle at 15 degrees initial. Cam is solid roller .668/.668 259/265 . Might try it. Can't hurt.

Finally have this set of 2.08 Edelbrock heads done.

Awesome! That's some skill there, brother.

why on earth does Holley put big main bleeds in? Every carb I've worked with is at least ,030 from the factory. Befuddling! Also. why put a curve in the dist when I'm almost always above 2700RPM? I mean we're talking about close to 600 on the engine dyno. Probably more now with the upgraded...

    Think I'll start with .070.

Can you get there without tubing the bolt holes? I've been running pushrod oiling for years now and think it's a better system. But i am curious.
