    UTG vs DDG

Whining isn’t becoming. Some of us don’t have the TIME to waste watching a **** show. Get over it.

    UTG vs DDG

I don’t know about DDG, but anything UT is involved with is a bullshit deal. Just like the insanity when he “beat” the dude with the white truck. I forget his name. Andy I think. Anyway, if you want me to believe the results were on the level then that would mean Andy is clueless. He isn’t...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

clearly you aren’t in the engine building business because you don’t have a clue. This is why guys like Ramm don’t post much or even at all.

    Nicks Garage 383 build

You try, but it’s hard to do because every ******* expert everywhere will tell them how junk their stuff is and how smart they are. Look at this thread. Ramm posted his exact experience and guys are telling him how wrong he is. I’ve said for decades every engine builder in his area should...

    Nicks Garage 383 build

WTF are you talking about? You can put it in writing and that makes a difference how? The customer will still ***** about it everywhere and any chance they get. There is a reason why people that get PAID to build engines and have to make their house payment doing it ALWAYS say you’ll want more...

    Roller Lifter Identification

I don’t think so. The Engle lifters had an aluminum pushrod seat and they did not have captive links like that. PRH called it early. That’s a Comp lifter. Look at the link bars. Comp for sure.

    Valve adjustment.......

Blow me. What difference does it make if it’s a /6 or a Pro Stocker?? Doing stupid **** is still stupid ****. I’m not bragging but evidently I intimidate people like you who prefer garbage parts and bad tuning procedures.

    Intermediate Shaft Wear

Yeah, that’s not good. It’s hard to see in the picture but that almost looks like a sintered bronze or oilite bushing material. Not saying it is because it may be the picture but usually brass doesn’t make chips like that. At least not the brass they use for those gears. If this is a...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

I’d explain to you why you use seat to seat timing but you can’t learn. And of course if your god Vizard doesn’t say it you don’t know it. I wouldn’t buy another DV book with a gun to my head. Have you ever even seen The Horsepower Chain? That one book exposes a lot of garbage put out by...

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

I’d be real careful blocking the heat off for any reason. I say that because todays fuel does not vaporize worth a crap and without the heat from the crossover you’ll need to make a bunch of tuning and carb changes. I’d try to get the rivets out first and if they don’t come out then look at...

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Yeah, I’d want to see the parts list and all the numbers off the dyno for that.

Cost for labor on stroker build?

I know most shops around here are at least 110 bucks an hour. Some of them are at 130/hr and it’s going up almost by the week. The cost of chemicals is going berserk and that’s part of what’s driving the hourly rate. And it won’t be going down any time soon unless the entire floor of the...

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

Not sure about that so I don’t know. That area where the exhaust crosses over gets extremely hot. I mean real hot. Any oil that hits it when it’s hot Coke’s off. If you are even half careful you should be able to get them out. 99% of the time it’s pretty easy. I have had a couple of times...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Ok, if you go back to speedtalk and on the page that lists all the forums you click on the announcements tab. Right at the top of that page is a button that says “limited supply of Don Terrell’s horsepower chain”. click on that and the instructions to get one is there. They are only 40 bucks...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

If you have an engine you want a cam spec’d for let me know bore, stroke, rod length, compression ratio and at what RPM you want to make peak torque and I’ll run some numbers. I can’t tell you exactly what the numbers might be because it sometimes throws out some crazy numbers.

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

Get that thing off of there and clean the hell out of it. Get under the rivet with a small chisel but it can’t have a sharp end. If it does you’ll knock the head off of it. Gently tap in the chisel with a small hammer. Not some 32 ounce framing hammer but an 8 ounce ball peen hammer works...

    Oiling issues

There is a reason Systems 1 put a sleeve inside their filter. To stop **** like that. It’s hard to see in the picture but is there a screen or something inside to keep it from collapsing? If it’s a race car and you have a 40 micron screen it will filter everything you need. I know this. A...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Save your money for that book. Go to speedtalk.com and see if you can still get a copy of The Horsepower Chain. Not only will it change the way you think about internal combustion engines and how they really work. It also has actual math. Not empirically derived crap.
