Unported head quickness?
Well Bill I try to be interesting... if not entertaining...... LOL! :occasion:
mullinax95, thanks.
Well, if you're going for "interesting," I think what Tom Wolfe did with his '70 Dart, initially, was QUITE interesting, because of its unusual methodology.
He took a nearly STOCK slant six, added a 4bbl and a junkyard turbo and ran 12.95 @ 105 mph with it.
Yes, he used an
UNPORTED head; with those tiny, stock valves, and probably 8:1 compression... in a 3,300-pound car.
He based this "build" (if you could call it that; he didn't do much "building"... never had the head or the pan off...) on a used Buick turbo he pulled out of a junkyard, and a 4-bbl manifold and carb... still had the small rear end with hiway gears, and stock cam and valvetrain...stock 904... and converter
Here's the Video: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPe_vHwZsF4"]Slant Six Turbo 1970 Dodge Dart 1/4 Mile pass - YouTube[/ame]
I can't imagine that he spent very much at all on this effort... Sawed the stock exhaust manifold off and welded a turbo mount on it.
Stilll, he got into the 12's at 104mph...
This fits this thread, I think, since he did it with an unported head, and it's "AA Different."
Now, his car runs 11-flat into a 15 mph headwind @ 120mph, but with lots of TLC...
But, it ran pretty well, with an unported head, it seems to me.:glasses7:
That's my idea of "interesting." :)
