Do I have to get my '64 inspected? I just moved out here last month and called up about getting my cars registered and they told me to take all my vehicles in for the state inspection. I was honestly hoping it is was like back in California. I know the DMV was wrong in cali when once they tried to tell me I needed to get the car smogged for current tags so Im praying the lady I talked to just isn't in the know. I REALLY don't trust people under the hood of anything I own but for sure not the Dart.

My son and I have a 74 Dart Swinger, and I do believe that your car WILL need an inspection. We moved here from Ft Irwin, CA to Ft Hood, TX and all our vehicles needed to be inspected. Texas is not nearly as "anal" as CA, but does check the vehicles well. It's all in who you know, as I know a shop that set me up with my sons truck. but if you have something that is WAY out of whack,(speedo inop) you might be in for some issues getting it corrected. Just my take.

If you purchase antique plates which are good for 5 years by the way. You do not have to have the car inspected. So you may want to go this route. I have a 65 Dart and of course you do not have to have a 'smog' inspection. It's just check the wipers, lights, horn kind of thing...if you go with the standard plates.

Yup, strictly a safety inspection.

Yup, you need an inspection in TX. I had to do my '75 Special Edition and I'm about to do my '70 340, both moved from NY.
