:stop:There is a scam that's been around Ebay and Craigslist for a while, but I just got an email based on an ad I had on THIS site.

Basically you get an email from a person with a g-mail account who CLEARLY uses English as a second language. They ask about your car, tell you they want it and offer you a cashiers check for more than you are asking so you can pay the shipper.

:hiding:Here's the email I got:

Hello

Complement of the day.I'm writing regarding your placed ad,as i will like you to e-mail me the full detail, present condition(current photo if available),and please do get back to me with your final asking price and also let me know if you still have it available for sale

Do not answer these ads! Obviously the money order would be bad and you would be be sending off your cash to the scammer. Be careful!

Yeah them Nigerian scammers are everywhere. If you read that original message though, who talks like that anyway? You can tell just from the way the message is written that the person uses English as a second language. I remember I sold a car on Craigslist before and I got all kinds of crap in my Email telling me to "please take your car off Craigslist as I am very interested in it for my daughter as a present I will pay any costs to get it fixed." heh What??

I followed thru on one of them when they sent me a check by fed X for way in excess of the purchase price and wanted me to send them the balance I turned it over to Wells Fargo to investigate the fraud and it was They sent me a few emails asking about there balance money (Different email address on each one) I emailed them back with the W F branch information and bank officer's name never heard from them again I new it was a scam and wanted to bring it to someone that may be able to catch and deal with them WF never let me know the results I can only hope that since banks are a federally controlled institution they did something about it

those POS's actually forced me to close my Gmail account and open a new one. very easy to do. it only took me one response to tell them to f*ck off. now i will never even respond to garbage like that. it only takes one response and your email address is passed on and on to every scammer in the world. i havent had one scammer in over a year

If you have already made contact and they have your e-mail, the best thing you can do is string them along and waste as much of their time as possible. Time is money, yes even to scum bucket scamers. Waste enough of their time, make them call beeper numbers, fax lines, make them ship as many counterfit checks as possible, what ever you can do to waste their time.
I have a stack full of their counterfit checks, strung one of those S.O.B's along for 2 months.......enjoyed every minute.:bootysha:

And they are always trying to figure out a different way to scam you or harvest your e-mail address. I recently received an e-mail that was supposedly from the better business bureau that said I had a complaint filed against my business and I had to open an attachment and fill out a form and return it to them. Funny thing is I have NEVER owned or ran any business! Naturally I never opened their virus/trojan laden attachment nor responded to them. You also have to watch out when you get an e-mail that you don't want and it has an "unsubscribe" link. A lot of the time when you try to unsubscribe from something it sets off the dinger that tells them your e-mail address is good and then you'll get tons of crap. I just ignore and delete the junk I get.

My Dad recently recieved a hand written letter from Nigeria trying to scam him out of money, it had all the african stamps and stuff. They wanted to meet him face to face. I've seen every scam on earth on the internet but I never saw a hand written one.I told him to send it to the authorities for a sting but he just threw it in the garbage.

I've had lots.

Had one guy mail me a 'money order' from Cypress, saying he wanted to buy an 8 3/4 SG I had for sale. I was asking $350 for the part and his fake MO read $5000.

Another said he wanted to pick up the 66 Valiant (I'm parting it out, and it clearly isn't drivable in the pictures), and asked if it would make the drive to Mexico.

Another told me he had $12,000,000 and because I 'helped' him with his business, it was only fair he split it with me. He only needed my bank account #, DOB, address, age, life story, etc.

Effin scammers. Some of the stories they come up with are funny though.
