just wondering what sort of boost a relatively standard build 440 (in the last 10 years or so) can comfortably take?

just that i have acces to an rb that's been sitting for a while, and an 871 roots blower (all used and cheap how i like em)

whilst i'm on it, what's the next step? cam, carbs, what have you seen that just works?

thanks in advance,

A good friend has an 871 on his 440 in a 72 Cuda. Seems he told me that it was 8.5-1 compression, standard 72 block with stock forged crank pushing 10-12 lbs boost, 2 Edelbock 680cfm carbs. and crane blower cam and mildly ported 906's. Cuda runs high 10's 1/4 blowing the tires off at launch. Great thing about it he drives it to the local street meet every Saturday evening. Very streetable

10 sounds about right... but as Cuudak already mentioned about his buddy... 8.5:1 compression is as high as I'd go.
