Alternator out put.

Ok I am not getting an Alt output on my 68 dart. The alternatotr only has a single Field output and a battery out out. I check the fusible link and its good, leads me think Alt or voltage Regulator . any inputs???

Where are you measuring the voltage at? I found out my problem was a bad amp guage. All the current runs through it, if it's bad, nothing gets to the battery. Jumpering it with a stought 12AWG wire will tell you.

it was the Alt like I thought. I checked continuity from the Alt to the starter realy and knew that like was good. The power runs from the Alt to the amp- meter and then to the starter relay through the fusible link. So when i checked the line from the alt to the starter relay that tells you that all of that is good. I kinda thought it was the Alt but never know with thes things.

You might want to upgrade the regulator if its still using the old style.

You can get an electronic one from MP, probably elsewhere too. But I bet you already knew this.
