Hi,

My speedometer does not work/not hooked up and it seems I need to order some parts for it. I am not too familiar with transmission items. The transmission is for a A999 transmission and the engine is a 318 from a 1968 Cuda. Does anyone know what what I need to order to get this working? I recently ordered a speedo cable and it was totally wrong. Help. Thanks in advance.

do you know what type of cable it takes...the transmission end is all the same...the end that goes in the speedometer...is either a screw in or snap in...

you need to know what speedometer gear you have or need....

what year is the transmission?

basically all 727..904..999 take the same speedo gear .....

Thanks Tony I will check it out. I'm not sure the year of the tranny but the speedometer is a rally gauge and I believe that is a screw in back.

If I'm not mistaken you need a 66/67 cable if your speedometer takes a nut. It has the small nut for the speedometer and the large on for the transmission.

Thanks this is all good. I believe the transmission is an A999...that's all I know. Thanks dartman I will checkout the cable from the 66/67 as well.

That would depend on what you need and what they charge per hour. If you have the correct speedo gear and adaptor, and you just need a '66-7 type cable, it should be no more than a 1/2 hour job. You can get the cable online (I've seen many on E-bay for around $20.00). It's fairly simple to install. Just follow the old routing....there should be some bend tabs to fasten it to the firewall and floor pan. Just make sure there are no sharp bends or allow it to get close to the exhaust system.
