Still looking for brake lights and turn signals... HELP!

I pulled the steering wheel and checked out the turn signal switch. I have a horn and emergency lights. I guess I have power then, correct? No bulb problems, either? I cannot find ANY power to the turn signals. I have checked it out and taken the switch out of the hub. I cannot find a wire (other than the horn and emergency switch) that has power. Where is the power coming from? I have power to the brake light switch. When I press the pedal, it comes on and has power. I am told that the power goes through the turn signal switch and then out to the correct bulbs. Any ideas on this one boys?

Power comes from the fuse to the brake switch, when the brakes are applied power flows through the switch to the turn signal switch and is re-directed to the rear bulbs.

Your hazards work?
Checked power from your turn signal fuse?
Make sure you load the circuit with a lamp to make sure you are getting enough current flow through it. a bad connection may light a cheap light but not flow enough current to do the job.

The best way to check this out is to some how get a Factory service manual and get a ohm meter and check each circut from begining to end and the diagrams for these years are pretty easy to follow.

Maybe someone from the board that is close by that can help.

I am having almost the same type of problem on my 70 Duster 340

I have all working lites except for no parking lites. I changed the headlight switch and turn signal switch but still no parking lites, I have headlites though. I wish I could help you out I will let you know if I get mine going. Anybody with any more things I could check?

Have you checked your fuses with a test light?
Checked power at the headlamp switch from the fused park light circuit?

I checked the fuses and they are good but once in a while, when I am trying to diagnose the problem the tail lite fuse will pop. I was wondering why I found a box of fuses in the glove box. Anyhow, I have a direct ground short somewhere along the circuit. Electrical work is not one of my best areas, the only other thing I noticed that it is an original 4 spd
car and under the hood I found the automatic transmission column linkage attached to the steering column! I bought the car from the original owner pink slip and all, but they passed away before I could find out if the column was ever changed.

I'm not sure on A bodies, but B and E bodies with 4spds did have linkage to the column in 1970 as you had to put the car in reverse to get the key out. I would start isolating some wires, check the harness(all of them) to see if they have rubbed through somewhere, been piched, aftermarket accessory wired in, etc.

the turn signal switch has nothing to do with the parking lights.

Finally, got the tail lites working!!! When I had the exhaust put on at the
shop one of the other mechanics was an electical troubleshooter, I said the
hell with it, fix the lites. Like I said before electrical gremlins is one of my
gray areas. He found a bad wire through the lite switch, at first he thought
I had a weak fuse block, but I think this problem existed for a long time,
before I got the car. Anyways, its done I have dash lites and tail lites,
and he charged me 50 bucks!!
