STUPID QUESTION!!!!mikesduster 11-18-2004, 08:27 PM if a motor runs LEAN and always leans the plugs out, would it cause the motor to run HOT??...like temps in the low 200's gts340 11-18-2004, 08:46 PM Yes it makes an engine run hot...can't explain it but I once burnt my fingers on a wing nut of a friends 383 that was running WAY too lean. demonwiese 11-19-2004, 07:38 PM Yes LEAN can be very MEAN. Watched my Harley pipes turn blue going around the block once! Another block I would have probably fried a piston, valves or both. AdamR 11-19-2004, 09:54 PM Yup. My 70 Cuda was running lean and always ran about 210. Jetting up helped a bit. then I decided to try some Cam2 (was pinning also) Temp dropped down to around 195. onehellofadart 11-20-2004, 06:15 AM What distr are you running. Mine did the same thing untill I replaced the MP performance distrib with a MSD. mikesduster 11-21-2004, 10:07 AM i have a STOCK MP dist. with the weights welded. sickt7cuda 11-28-2004, 03:48 PM Without a doubt, running lean causes heat. Fuel cools the combustion temperatures by diluting the air intake charge. | |||
