I have now

340 crank
refurb stock rods with KB pistons im told they should be should be around 10.5:1.
complete assembly is balanced

Im getting performer rpm heads.....should i get the 340 or 360 head?

What cam/converter/gear would do this? I have access to some 4.56's but the car currently has 3.91 gears. Car weighs 3100 with me in in it.

At one time the mopar performance catalogs had a section at the back that would give you all the required parts,including gears for 10,second through to 14 or 15 second 1/4 mile cars. I think I just tossed my old catalogs but I will check when I get home. It was good info, great for a wish list or for when you write your letter to Santa. :lol:

I don't know why they stopped doing that, I'm sure it's a money thing. Even if they didn't update it, it still would be good info for guys who just found the catalog for the first time.
Of course I could never figure out how a MP chrome timing chain cover would help make my car go faster... :scratch: :lol:

LOL! I always wondered that myself. I think I have one from 2000, I'll look it up tonight.

They put out a seperate book its called "Small block A engines". mopar perf part# P4876826. You can order it from your local mopar performance parts dealer. This book tells all suspension , car weight to get where you want to be.

I found a 1998 catalog in my recycle bin. I will need to remember to bring it to work, scan a few pages then send it directly to you if you are interested, let me know.
Up to our butts in snow here today....blaaaaa.

intake= air gap
carb=750 holley
cam= 246@50 and 550 lift
3500+ stall
gear=4.30
tire 28"
1" HVH tappered spacer
msd mech advance dist
crane ignition
1.6 rocker
decent 1 5/8 header and open'em up
do a little port work and get the heads to flow at least 260ish at 600 lift. Use some good valve spring and run a carter mech fuel pump.

This should put you in the 11's pretty easy.

This depends on the deck height of the pistons you have. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only reason Edelbrock makes the 340 specific head is to clear the stock 340 high compression pistons. They stuck out of the hole a bit to raise the compression on the open chamber heads. There would be clearance issues if you slap a set of 360 Edelbrock heads on with those pistons. But if you rebuilt with flat top pistons, you should be okay with the 360 heads.
