I thought I heard something about not running the spark plug washer on a /6 with spark plug tubes. Is that correct? The plugs that came out had washers on them.

New spark plugs and tube seals; washer or no?Dirty Scamp 05-11-2007, 02:00 PM I thought I heard something about not running the spark plug washer on a /6 with spark plug tubes. Is that correct? The plugs that came out had washers on them. GoodysGotaCuda 05-11-2007, 04:01 PM I ran them. Put in what came out, in my opinion. 19duster74 05-12-2007, 08:30 AM I always used the washers on my /6 motors. never had a problem. RobbAdams 05-12-2007, 05:52 PM the theory is if you do NOT use the washers, the plug will reach further into the combustion chamber, resulting in better burn. I have no facts to back this up, but I do run mine without washers for this reason  Mopower71 05-12-2007, 06:03 PM There are two different plugs for different year /6's I don't remember the year change, but one uses a gasketed plug, and one uses the tapered plug. You can't mix them, or just remove the gasket, it doesn't work that way. 68Valiant 05-13-2007, 09:23 AM You do not need the washers on the plugs. I always remove them.
