here are some comparison pics of what i've got.....the second of each pair of pics is with the pinion moved .005 closer to the ring

do i need to go more???

Your last set looks good if you are drag racing the car, if not the second set looks fine to me.

it is a "street" car, but my intent is SOMEDAY to get it in the low/mid 11s

All three look like they are within acceptable parameters but I would go with number two as the others have mentioned.

This set of installation instructions has one of the better set of images for acceptable patterns.

I wouldn't worry about that, you'll probably be buying another set before you get there. I know I bought at least 5 sets and I can still screw up one little time and I'll be buying another set. :D
