Cam install problem

I have just started my engine assembly and I allready hit a problem. My cam is stuck! It went in nice and easy till the last part when the front and rear get slid into there bearings. It jammed up so tight I could not pull it out. To make matters worse since I could not pull it out nor push it in, I took the rubber mallet and tapped it in all the way. Its binded so bad you can't even rotate it. Anyone have any suggestions how to get it out? I dunno if the cam bearings were in corectly installed or if COMP CAMS ground the cam wrong.

Yep,been there on my last BB.Sometimes the block is missmachined and when they install new bearings you cant get the cam in. They can measure and hone the bearing to fit correctly but you have to take it back to the machine shop. My old shop has a selection of cams that he made cutters out of. He puts one in,spins it to cut the bearing then smoothes the bearing with a fine hone.

I dont know how common but if it can happen it will happen to me. Last time I had the whole shortblock assembled when I found it. Lesson learned I check cam fit first before anything.

I talked to the machinist today. He sounds pretty confindent on what the problem and told me to bring it in. He thinks its one of 2 possible probs.
