Yep folks, here it is. I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that with a hammer and a vise, I can straighten this out! :wink:

Hehehe... I'm not drunk or anything, just kidding around. :lol: This is mainly to show just how bad it was bent. (if you followed my "well, it's official" thread) I do have to question whether or not the piston is ok. It looks fine to me except for the indentation where it smacked the hell out of the valve. What do YOU think?

I checked the spring pressure on the spring that was on this valve and came up with 160 closed and 380 open. Pretty much tells me these springs are shot, although the CompCams springs that are recommended for this cam are pretty dang close to my pressures. Comp says the springs are supposed to be 165 @ 1.80" and 385 @ 1.20". Who knows......Seems awefully light for a roller cam, and a solid one at that.

That can fixed. Put it in a vise and heat it up. A few good wacks with the old BFH and it will be as good as new :shock:

I think if you have one valve bent THAT bad, there could be more that are slightly bent. You're at least taking the other head off, aren't you? 8)

As for other damage this may have caused, I think there's only one way to tell for sure... tear down the whole engine. You're planning a new cam anyway, so just pull the engine and put it on the stand. Tear it apart and inspect EVERYTHING. This may be overkill, but if that were my engine, that's what I would do. How many passes do you have on it??

I only have about 75 passes on this motor, so I'm not tearing everything down just yet. I'm gonna be doing some major upgrades in the near future so I'm not going to pull it. (steel crank, W2's, new cam) I'm pretty sure nothing else is bent, I did a compression check on the other cylinders and everything looks just like it did last summer, and the oil pressure was just fine as well. (when I had it running last after it bent) Obviously the #1 hole was dead, but everything else looked OK.

Yeah I know. The scoop made the tires look even smaller. I have the spring relocation kit and a fuel cell waiting to go in. Just need to find the time. :?

Trust me, bigger tires don't help either. What you'd really need is some real strong gear's. Ask me how I know :roll:

I dont think my 727 will be as hard on parts as your 4 speed is.

Beside I have an 8" tire and 3 foot tall hood scoop. It just looks alittl out of place. :?

I got a valve that looks just like that one :D Only when my engine did that it also demolished 3 pistons :cry: Just gave me an excuse to build a new engine :D

I had one like that too, blew the piston apart. Mine was caused by a failed rod bolt(s), sent the rod through the side of the block.

I blew the yoke off the rear end when I launched off the line. The car hooked and pulled the front off of the ground then immediately came back down when the yoke went. I didn't have a rev limiter so the engine went.

I've heard of multi-angle valve jobs, but that's one angle I think you'd be better off without! :lol:
