Every time I sign on this %$#@#$% board it's re-arranged! Now your going to break down EACH TOPIC into a forum??? I had posted a Cam Selection question and now it's a "performance issue"?

Geeez! If this is going to be happening for a while I'll check back in with you guys in, say.... THREE MONTHS and maybe we'll have settled in by then!?!?!?

BTW: Joe, are you a trekkie?

John the split up forums will make things easier to find. Instead of having to dig threw 25 pages of tech topics you can just go to the forum that would have what your looking for.

I know its alot of changes at once but it shouldnt be to much longer.

Yea i agree but you got to look at the big picture, there increseing the volume of traffic on the site. They need the forums to be easyer to find information. I did the same thing over on dakotausa when it started growing.

The changes that they are making are for the better. We should all be able to get used to in in a short period of time.

I know eventually it'll be better, but every time I post something I can never find it due to it being moved to a "new" forum.

And I still think the new A Body logo looks like something from Dr. Spock's crew shirt....

I was feeling the same way when I tried to catch up on some of the threads. But I remember about a year ago when we had less than 500 members we had discussed the different forums and decided we didn't have enought member to fill them. Now I think we can split the forums and still look like we got some traffic thru them. It can be frustrating at times but I look at it like a kid going thru his teens, doesn't quite know what he wants to be/look like with each new day. I'm sure it will all work out in the end. And I agree with you on the trekkie thing.

BTW how do you get the smilies?

I liked the new board in the beginning but now it just seems it got to big!
What i mean is everything is spread out all over the board.
I'm sure i'll get used to it but right now it does get a little frustrating!
Personally when it comes to stuff like this i found it's usually better to use the K.I.S.S. method!
If your not familair with it:

Keep
It
Simple
Stupid

But that's just my opinion,i could be wrong!

Your probably looking at the top ot the quick reply box, which is meant for short replies. You want the full reply box.

To get there, look at the bottom of a thread, on the left, click POST REPLY

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/images/black/buttons/reply.gif

A screen then comes up that looks like this - you can see the smiley on top circled.

For those of you losing threads. You can keep track of your threads by subscribing to them. You can then always find the thread in your user cp.

You can have an email sent when a reply is posted to the thread. Or turn that off so there is just a list in the user cp for you to reference.

I dont want to sound like im an ass, but thats not going to happen. The posts need to be divded into catagories. If your looking for brake information, you dont need to search through 50 threads about suspension, bodywork and engine issues. Hence, the catagories.

IF you just want to check to see the posts that have been made since you were here last, just go to the navbar and click NEW POSTS -- or, if you want the posts made during the last 24 hours, click TODAYS POSTS on the navbar.

I cant make everyone happy, and the changes im making are to accomidate future growth. I'm sorry if things arent ideal for everyone, but I can promise you that the site will become more infomative and busier as time goes on.

I know its a lot of changes and it seems like there are a ton of forums but once everything finds its place it will seem much better organized. I spent 3 hours last night moving threads in to differant categories so others wont have to look threw 16 pages of tech questions to find what they are looking for.

If you see things you dont like, make a suggestion on how to make it better. Just saying I dont like this or I hate that doesnt help us make this place better for everyone. We need ideas not negative comments.

I think there are just WAY too many forums. Dodge Truck World has a bizillion forums, 20,000 members and most people post in General, Their Chapter (region), and thier truck board (+02, 94-02, Dak, Durango, etc). Most everything else is pretty much wasted.

How about:
Board issues
General Discussions
For Sale
Wanted
Regional boards
Drivetrain
Chassis

and yes, K.I.S.S. is ALWAYS a good way to think.
This site isn't nearly busy enough to warrant all the forums it now has.

Apparently everyone is not on the same page. If you only have a text box, then you need to do the following:

1) Click on USER CP at the top of the webpage.

2) Click on EDIT OPTIONS on the left side of your screen.

3) Scroll down to the bottom, to the Miscellaneous Options box.

4) In the drop down box, select ENHANCED INTERFACE- FULL WYSIWYG EDITING

Save your changes, then you should be able to choose smiles and fonts, etc.

Joeychgo
05-13-2005, 08:16 AM
The other option is to choose the standard editor, in which case the smiles should be on the right side - and additional smiles can be found by clicking "More" below the smiles.

This is what the Standard interface looks like.

I would have to agree. I usually go to one or two of the forums... I like the new layout but I think there way to many forums.

why not go to NEW POSTS on the navbar?

AdamR
05-13-2005, 06:50 PM
I think its alot easier to find info on a certain subject now. This is how I planned on setting the board up awhile ago but didnt only because the board was much smaller. Now I think it works better.

We also removed a few of the forums. Things just need to find there place.
