Break in oilMopardude 06-16-2004, 05:44 AM Can I use synthethic for break in? DARTSPORT 06-16-2004, 07:21 AM You shouldn't use synthetic for a break in oil, to slippery. That's what I have been told by engine builder. OK, later on !! chad72duster 06-16-2004, 08:07 AM I am going with a cheao 10w30, it will only see about 30 min and then in goes the mobile 1. dave571 06-16-2004, 09:32 AM definately stick with regular oil, the thinner the better. Then it get's to everywhere in the engine better and faster. six pack 06-18-2004, 09:56 PM I would wait at least 3000 miles before switching to synthetic. GotDart 06-18-2004, 11:10 PM Don't use an el 'cheapo oil, ever! What I was told - Use a high quality non-synthetic 30 weight oil for break in. And after the initial 30 minute cam breakin, change the oil with the same stuff. After 500 miles, change the oil again with the same stuff. Then, at 2500-3000 miles, you can switch to a multi-grade synthetic. chad72duster 06-19-2004, 10:33 PM my engine guy told me use the cheapo for the first 30 min would be fine after that go with a good qaulity multi vescocity oil for the next 150 miles alternating fron 30 to about 60 MPH afetr that I could go with a good synthetic oil. I will run mobile 1 in it afte the first 150. | |||
