headers grrrrrrr

Ok i just spent the last 3 days trying to get hedman b body headers to fit my 440 with power steering in my dart. The outcome you may ask...
The right side isnt as nice as i would like but it is on and no totally smashed tubes. The left side on the other hand is cut up into a million pieces laying on the shop floor. I rebuilt a couple tubes. I just cant seem to make it fit. Id be better off getting a build your own kit.

Talk about frustrating. But I dont want fenderwells and the guy at schumacher said his probably wouldnt fit with my fast ratio pitman and idler. I figured id rather cut up 125 dollar headers than 600 dollar ones.

Is there anything out there i may have over looked that could work with the power steering??

It seems like power steering kills it for everything. I can't even get headers for my Valiant with a 273 because it has power steering  Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but I feel your pain. Have you checked into the TTI headers to see if they had an application :?:

yeah power steering box is quite a bit bigger than the manual one. makes everything tight. But for your small block the spitfire headers will fit great. I used them on my dart till i decided to swap in htis 440. I knew i should have went with a b engine.
TTi says their headers wont fit with power steering either.

Spitfires won't work, I got a 65 Valiant. They only work with power steering for 67 and up :(

TTi's 2" won't fit with power steering, but they make 1 3/4" headers that will fit.

It would be nice if they made one for the 65 with P/S. I would settle for one with 1 1/2" for the 273

1-3/4" O.D. primary tubes with 3" diameter collectors

440 A-body applications: Clears Manual steering only

Will not clear the quick-ratio extended length pitman arm and idler arm

I have both ps and the fast ratio idler and pitman arm.

CPPA's fit im my car B engine with power steering, 1¾ tubes. Did have to clearance the tube by the steering coupler though.

well the schumachers are in. looks like a few dents will make the steering linkage clear.
They cost 625 bucks shipped. That is more than I paid for the engine and transmssion  But they really fit. Installed easier than any other header ive ever put on anything. Look great also.
