engine paint ?

i have a 77 360 that i am rebuilding. it was a reman unit but i dont know where from and its black... what color were they in 77????

probably chrysler blue. i think all the LA small blocks were blue... somebody correct me if im wrong.

I think 71 and later were blue. They went to black in the 80s.

68 340s were red.
69s were either Turquoise , Hemi orange any maybe blue
70s were Hemi orange.

yeah, the truqoise/chrysler blue color. thats what color my engine is (was.. all the paint has like rotted off of it.) i figured 340s had to be a different color for obvious reasons.

The truqoise and chrysler blue are 2 differant colors.

turquoise was used mostly on non Hi Po big blocks and has a greenish tint to it.

The blue was used mostly on 70s small block and is, well blue not turquoise

the 273 and 340s were red but that late in the 70s i wasn't sure... i know my 318s are nice and chrysler blue.... but was unsure of the 360s in the late 70s... thankx guys!!!!
