Does anybody have the specs on a 67 383 two barrel engine? Does this engine still use the 906 heads? Comp. ratio? Which oil pan? I`ve found a complete 67 383 2 barrel with 727 trans from a Newport. I`m giving thought to putting it in my 67 Barracuda. Any help? Thanks.

Here ya go longgone, if the heads are original they should be the 516 or 915's, should have read the chart.

The 906's didn't come out till 68 for the 383 but heh ya never know. If the heads are the 516 or 915 closed chambered and are factory stock they should have the 1.60" exhaust valves that can be upsized to 1.74" which all the heads from 68 on had mind you these were open chambered, eg. 906.

Thank you demonseed, that`s got quite a lot of info on a single page. It was just what I needed. Now I`ve got to decide whether to make the commitment to 'big block" this car or not.

Sorry, my books don't go back that far. The 67 shouldn't be far off the 69 specs I have.

The 69 383 2bbl

comp ratio 9.2:1
horsepower 290 @ 4400
torque 380 @ 2400

valve spring rated at 200 Lbs @ 1.43 in for the 2 bbl. 220 for for the 4 bbl.
Specs remained the same for 1970. Compression ratio dropped in 1970, replaced by 360 2bbl in 72. Surprised to see that 2 bbl valve springs are the same as for the 350 hp 440.

Hope this helps.
