Duster Side-Rear PoP out Windows?

I am building a 74 Duster race car. I thought it would be neat to keep the rear side pop out windows, but take the glass out and put poly in. Has any one done this. I have the frames out, but can't figure out how to get the glass out to replace it. I don't want to tear it up by being stupid. Can any of your guys help with some instructions for a old guy?

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my 70 Duster when it gets close to being finished. But I really haven't looked to closely at the windows yet. Let me know if you come across tips or tricks for doing it, good luck.

I will let you know. If I have to buy a manual and figure it out, I will. I know there has to be an established way to remove the glass. How else could someone replace a glass if it was broken. Unless, god forbid, you would have to buy the whole thing, frame and all.

I have it posted on both boards, but so far, no replys.

I was looking through the parts manual for a 72 Duster and it shows the glass and the retainer as two separate part numbers. It didn't show how they come apart because it was only a parts manual. If I have time in a day or two I'll try pulling one out of the Duster I just picked up and let you guys know.

Well so far on both forums no one seems to know how to do this. I WILL learn how to get this done. I guess I need to start looking for a Duster manuel.

I was looking through the service manual tonight for a 72 Duster and it doesn't show how it comes apart. I shows how to take the whole unit out of the car, but not how to separate the window from the retainer. I'm gonna try a pull one out tomorrow. I'll post what I find.

Well I took a look at one of the windows and it looks to be riveted. The chrome trim is riveted onto the window retainer which covers the rivets holding the retainer to the window. I didnt try disassembling it so I can't say how easy it would really be. But it doesn't look to be too hard to do. I might attempt it this weekend. I'll keep you guys informed as to what I find.

Well heres some pics. You only have to drill out two rivets, then the rest just slide apart.

This might be off your original question concerning the
pop-out windows, but my driver side pop-out window
sometimes shuts if I hit a bump or launch hard. Is there
anything on the mechanism to tighten up, or is it just
wore out and just replace it 8)

I didn't see anywhere that adjustments can be made. The thing is put together with roll pins.
