no oil out of rocker arms

I have a 1968 340 with a 292/508 cam, mopar adjustable rockers and hydraulic lifters. There is very little oil on some of the rocker arms, there is 20 lbs of oil pressure at the rocker arm shafts and they are filled with oil. I put grooves on the shaft at the oil holes-no change. The shafts are on right. My final trick was to put a groove in one rocker arm and then the oil came out. Has anyone had this problem, two speed shops could not figure it out.

Take your valve covers off. Then take off your coil wire and crank your engine and have someone watch to see if its pumping up oil.It will take abit for the oil to pump up.One side will pump it and then the other.Your rocker arms will not have as much oil on them as you would think. If both sides pump up it should be ok.Do the push rods have a hole in the middle of them?I can't remember if small blocks do or not.If so make sure the hole is open on each push rod.You should not have to put grooves in anything that will only make your parts weak.

oil is feed thru no 2 and no 4 cam bearing.....as the camshaft turns ..it has oil holes in no 2 and no 4 journals...so only once per revolution of the camshaft does oil go to the rockers.....

shaft need to have oil holes facing down...

is this a new camshaft...new engine..new rockers...adjustable rockers????

how do you know you have 20lbs of oil pressue at the shafts?

there are notches cut on the ends of the rocker shafts, they need to be pointing the right way,see a service manual for their orientation

notches are down and to YOUR left......

driver side would be down and towards radiator...

passender side would be down and towards the firewall...

The engine has everything new. the rocker shafts are on right and the oil holes are facing the valves at a 15 degree angle. I drilled and tapped the right rocker shaft front plug for a 1/8 pipe thread and installed a oil gauge. the oil flows out of the four large hold downs (second and forth on each side). I even put O rings under the hold downs and still no oil out of some of the rocker arms. Today I purchased comp cam roller adjustable rockers and shafts and will install them as soon as I get the push rods. l I put a set of hydraulic rockers, push rods and shaft on the left side and the oil flowed out of the rockers. STILL CAN'T EXPLAIN IT!

you are getting oil out of the shafts ....but no oil out of the individual holes at each rocker?

are the shafts used?....have you checked to see if the holes are plugged with crud..?

I had this issue, had gunk in oil feed holes in heads, pull shatfs if they are on correct, pull coil wire and push rods of course and crank to see if oil flows, make sure holes are clean too in heads.

I guess you checked to make sure all the the above to right?
What else was done to the engine need more details please to help..

hmmmm, pull the distributor and make sure the plug is in the oil gallery, this is a common problem of them being forgotten.it is the plug for the lifter gallery on the passenger side and oil pressure will be low thruout the entire engine with out it but will have some,if it has 20 lbs without it you'll be seing about 70 with the plug installed.hopefully someone will chime in with pic's.if that's the problem it'll be like you struck oil

I pulled the distributor and the plug was in. I replaced the rocker arms, shafts and push rods. The comp cam parts solved the problem. The only issue was I had to put an O ring under 2nd an 4th hold downs because too much oil was flowing out.
