Rocker Shaft Oil Holes

Which way do they face? Holes facing up, or down? I know there's a correct, and incorrect way. And I don't have the manual near me....

holes down. notch on the end of the shaft goes to the back on passerger side and front on drivers side.

I'm still trying to figure out the notch thing...when i took mine apart the notch on the drivers side was at the back just like the passenger side. It was rebuilt in '88 and and been that way since then. No ill effects.
