I have to change my gears. My current set up is 32" tire & 4.88:1 gears. At present the car runs 10.6 @ 6500 on motor and 10.2 @ 7000 with a 50HP shot. I am installing a NOS fogger system and can not continue to run the current set up. I have been reccomended to use 4.30, 4.11 and 3.91. I would like to hear other's opinions.
Thanks.

I think youd what to go with something like 4.10s but it epends on how much nitrous you'll be feeding it.

...that is a big ass tire... to be put under a car... very large..
i live in the land-o-'big trucks' so i hear stuff like "chevy on 36s, ford on 38 5s.." and DOGGIE POOPIE like that all the time.. but my friend has a 78 dodge with 38s and a powerwagon 318, headers, ignition... some other stuff, i forgot what else he said... that one is probably my favorite... not the best looking, but im sure its the most reliable. ;) he told me it has dana diffs in it, but i dont remember what size, and i think he said it has lockers... its bad, his uncle gave it to him.

what mph do you anticipate running?

Gears should be matched to how high you want turn the motor (RPM). How much NOS are you wanting to run? If want to run a 150 shot, run the car as is with the 150 shot and find out where on the track the car reaches your desired RPM. Then you can get a better idia of what gear to run by how close you get to the stipe when you hit your desired RPM. If your close make a small drop like a 4.56. If your far from the line 4.30 or 4.10 should work better. Gears are all about RPM at the stripe. Call a grear company with your findings they should be able to help.
