Yeah, I apologize, but I was thinking the same thing (Holy Crap!) after I saw the thread and figured out this jayson person duped some poor SOB out of $600 for what appears to be nothing more than a junk housing. That is just WRONG, and (right or wrong), took it upon myself to try and expose it for the benefit of others who might be thinking of doing business with him.

Again, SORRY...

I have 4 A-body diffys with gears and brake assemblys, and will gladly install new shoes and spring kits and turn the drums and get you new wheel cylinders as well for 500$,and can work out shipping to some degree. To me empty housing is only worth about 100-150$,with axles and bit more, but most people replace them with after market ones any ways. When I do a deal,I make sure every one has their pics and knows every thing about what they are getting A-Z to avoid this crap,Mrmopartech

Personaly this is how I see it,

Jayson's sale post states clearly:" A-Body 8-3/4 rearend

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a-body 8.3/4 rear drum to drum no 3rd member $450.00
e-mail me gotdart@hotmail.com or call 847 456 5598 Thanks Jayson"

But SGD128 states: "jayson Whats up with this rear?? first off its big bolt pattern you told me it was for small, when we talk on the phone. Its two different brake drums backing plate are stripped what and where did this come from?"

Neither of these posts were edited so they remain original and trustable.

Based on these alone, sounds like Jayson sold parts that were damaged/mismatched.

SGD1218 goes on later to post that: "To me COMPLETE means COMPLETE drum to drum whats so hard about that? I have no ill will against jayson...Just thought i was getting a complete rear minus the center!! Not that way when it got here. Ijust was thinking ??put in the center and go...NOW with TWO different size drums and striped (means oblonged large) backing plate holes just not what i was thinking..SO ..EVERYBODYS right, I should have went to a local yard for my $600. YES 600.."

(2) different sized drums - meaning they do not match ie cannot be used
striped (means oblonged large) backing plate holes - meaning that the backing plates are unusable/junk and of course if they are same same with drums they are mismatched in size, unusable.

So from what I have read of the posts that matter in that thread, none of the other posts have ANY bearing as they are neither by the seller nor the purchaser or they didn't contain useful info in refrence to the transaction and thus had no bearing. That said, sounds like Jayson sold SDG128 an 8 3/4 A body housing and a set of axle's that, based upon posts, are small bolt patterned? (I did not see anywhere else where SDG128 continued complaining about bolt pattern size so I assume they were what he was expecting)

In my opinion, that means that SDG128 paid $600 for $150 worth of parts. Shipping would have been less if he had left out the junk/damaged pieces (no the shipping company could not have either caused a change in the size of one of the drums nor damaged the backing plates in the way described, that all falls on Jayson) and/or SDG128 may have just decided to look else where and passed on the deal had he known said pieces were junk/damaged.

What could you do to make it right Jayson?

In my opinion, based upon the many many transactions I have performed over the net on bbs forums just like this, I would come to an agreement with the other party I had made the transaction with and refund some of their money. Or go out and get the correct drums and backing plates for him and ship them to him at my (your own) exspense.

You did not provide what you said you were selling, make that fact right and nobody will fault you. Just my opinions. I never leave an unsatisfied customer out on a limb, when they have paid me money.

I agree with others regarding the money thing, people who do nothing but buy and sell junk parts for ridiculous prices hurt this hobby which already has enough opponents in the tree hugging world in which we live. I personally do not attempt to get fat cash for old parts, they are old parts.

A further opinion I have is for SDG128, research research research, know what you are buying before spending your hard earned dough, you really would have been better off searching the salvage yards for that kinda dough, you would have at least known what you were getting at the moment of purchase, but I am sure you are plenty well aware of that now.

Just my .02
