We may have to start steering this little thread right back to were it started from? This is becoming our own chat Forum.
I think we may have left off somewhere between mine is bigger than yours and yours is faster than mine or something like that? LOL

weather the race happens or not. I see a valuable friendship developing. YR might take back the slow junk remark. the trigger remark.
I think your car is a fun purpose built, well thought out and not breaking the bank combo.

LOL, yeah this is starting to sound like a lovefest. Is that Kumbaya playing in the background?

This might be a good question how long has it been since you had the car running?

September 30, 2014. It's been a ***** getting it back together. My clutch guy crashed his PS car and paralyzed himself, had several friends and family die, one by murder, the front end needed to be rebuilt. What a pain in the ***. So I'm jonesing to drive the pig.

Imagine that the front end of an a body needing to be rebuilt LOL that's rich! Me and you both, I think I'm going to let it clang on the potholes for another year I'm not sure if I have the money....

That was the thing....it drove good and didn't make any noise. Then I pulled the engine and started cleaning it up and every bushing is used up like a 2 dollar ***** on coke. Then the lower ball joints were recalled after it was back together. I should write a book on all the crap that went on while doing this seemingly simple project.

BTW, I saw a few snow flakes this morning. Dammit. I'm going to build an igloo and eat seal meat. Might as well. Dammit.

Ok, follow along once more. EVERY SINGLE factory open chamber small block head is a SMOG HEAD. End of story, over and out, Roger wilco. Got it? Whether it has the exhaust holes under the exhaust ports or not, cast iron, open chamber FACTORY heads are smog heads. Even the X head. I am sure somebody in their infinite wisdom will disagree, but guess what? They are WRONG. Open chambers are good for ONE THING. Emissions. PERIOD.

This is why it is so easy to duplicate the X head. Because every single small Mopar open chamber head is essentially the same. Only exceptions are valve sizes and port sizes.

That said, IMO a well built back yard 410 would smoke a 340. That is, as long as they both use factory iron open chamber heads.

Yea they are all the same head. But the later heads have the EGR port cast in the head. The even later heads have the hole drilled.

I have one head that is an early head and one head that is a late head.

Cubic inches is not an indicator of performance.
