I tried bigger jets, bigger fuel pump, differnt plugs, wires, msd box, coil, ground wire, tach, fuel pressure, didnt do it on gas but does it on alky. New carb , runs deadly consistant just stutters and pops at shift points

It's either rich or you have a rev limiter issue. Did you try a smaller pill? Do you have a high speed?

All new 780 carb, 161 jets, ngk9 plugs, msd 6al 2 box, coil, bigger fuel pump, fuel pressure 6 psi down track. Locked dist. New ground, heads and intake port n polished. Valves checked. Im at a loss....

Damn forgot it was a carb deal. It can still be on the rich side. If it's shooting ducks it's lean. Damn hard to get alcohol lean. If it's missing and struggling it's rich.

Can you post a picture of the plugs?
they were white with the 154's . Haven't pulled one with the 161' jets.

How much total timing?
What spark plug?
What compression ratio?
What camshaft?

My gut says its rich...but...if you have the wrong plug it can do the same.
He posted NGK9 in post #16, one of the blanks filled, I thought a warmer plug was needed for alky...?

Was the carb converter to run on Alcohol or is it an Alcohol carb from Holley.....cause if it is converted some of the internal passages may not be large enough to flow twice the amount of alcohol vs gas.
