So my core is leaking and needs to be recored $450? This is the original to the car. I like the look of it. Are there any replacements that have the same look? If not then what would you do? Recore it or put a new Aluminum one in? Thoughts and ideas?

I went with an aluminum radiator on my 65/ until I get the original one re-cored. I haven't priced the re-core yet, but $450 sounds kind of high.

That looks nice. 3 core? What model / brand is it? Off topic... what color is your car painted?

Yes three core...Champion Radiator. The car's color is original (at the moment) metallic blue. The radiator I bought, is for a 65 Dart, passenger side lower hose. I had to add an extra piece to the passenger side flange mount to install it in my 65/. It worked out great. Champion may now have one for a 65 Barracuda 225/, but at time I bought this one they didn't. Currently I have the car disassembled for restoration. It had been sitting in a woman's yard since 1988. I drove it around for a couple of months before I started on the restoration.

That radiator does look good. A radiator shop should be able to find the leaks and fix them, clean out the radiator and pressure test it. I think an aluminum radiator would look way out of place. Keep it original.

Yes I want to keep it as original as possible. That radiator just does not look right.

I had 3 65’s that I was planning on doing so I sourced 3 22 in radiators and had them recorded to a 3 core (not all at one time of course). 2 of them were for V8’s 1 for a slant. I’m now down to 1 early A and am keeping the slant radiator for it; I will keep one of the V8 radiators and try to fit it to my 47 making one of the V8 radiators available. Interested?

Yes I can get pics - do you have an auto or stick - makes a different in the bottom tank.

Here’s some pics I just now took of the radiator.

22 inch core - correct for an early A V8

Overall shot of the radiator - does have the correct rounded top tank with the upper/lower hose fittings in the correct locations for a V8. The radiator guy put the side panels that were on the radiator back on - they are not correct for a 65/66 as they do not have the correct mounting area to install a factory shroud

None of the 3 radiators I had done have ever had coolant run through them nor painted - pretty much as received.

My radiator was leaking when I bought the car, so I replaced it with a 3-core Champion aluminum model. It works great, but with time I decided to recore the original. If you're only paying $450 you are better off than I am, mine was $550. But I really like the look of the original, and it will fit with my goal to make the car a sleeper.

Do you have a V8 or slant 6? The factory never made an early A 22 inch slant radiator. I would question if the linked radiator is actually a 22 inch slant radiator or for a V8, although it does look like a slant radiator.

I agree Dartman, A slant radiator has a passenger side lower hose nipple and an offset to the passenger side, upper hose nipple...BTW the lower nipple is angled toward the passenger side for hose clearance.

I have a slant 6. I want a correct looking radiator for this car.
