Looking for pics of GG1 cars.
Please post.
 
My 68 GTX is originally a GG1 car but was painted red by the PO almost 18 years ago. There is some green left in the trunk area but I don't think that's what you want to see. I also would like to see some pics of GG1 cars. Also, I believe someone just started a GG1 thread in the past few days.

I just painted my engine bay, trunk and wheels the '68 Plymouth Dark Green (Forest Green?). The rest will be done next year after I get car mostly put back together. It has some metallic and quite a bit of black in it. It's an awesome color. I would love to see some pics too.
 
So, would you agree the repaint on my car is not GG1?

Does it appear black at a distance,in the shadows,at dusk,or at night?It may not be G1 hard to tell unless you see it in person.

It is definitely darker at night. I pulled the door panel, the original green appears to be much darker, if it is the original green. What do you think?

The end of your door does look alittle to light.Back in the day 1980's everytime I went to the paint store if you did not have a code thet would just mix up something close.This ay of happened with your car.Ford had a color real close to G1 also.
And I do not think that 69 dart is G1 green or F8 green in 1969.Looks moe like F5 medium green.

As with many colors the shade changes from year to year. The '68 color is dark but I think the '69 shade is lighter. I know it's got a different paint code. It might vary from Plymouth to Dodge too. It's best to refer to the PPG color charts to get the proper code.
 
Its best to refer to your fender tag to get the proper paint code.If you refer to paint charts your color may be off from the original color.This is probably what happened in the first place.This may be why your paint is off color.

No. Your fender tag will only give you the Mopar code and not a paint company code. The original PPG Ditzler color chip charts are one of the few references that link the Mopar code to an actual paint code. The other option is to remove an unfaded original body part and get it computer color matched.
 
1meanA I understand what you are talking about now.I forgot the PPG sheets have the Mopar paint code as well as the PPG paint code.I know alot of paint shops would just mix a color close and that was good enough,if you did not have or know the proper Mopar or paint manufacter code.They would try this with me alot. I always had the Mopar code and would make them mix it right.

We can see from the attached '68 Plymouth chart that the 67 and 68 GG1 colors have a different PPG code.
