Acetylene torch on the bolts will greatly improve their turning. If rusted too bad them cut them off. I've heard of folks having success changing the solenoids. Keep things clean when doing it.

They seem to work fine like that. They should be lubricated at least once a year. I daily drove these cars and parked outside in the Seattle rain Forrest for years with no issues.
