    1968 273 2bbl Engine Timing

How about move the distributor around and find the position it runs best, then check the timing. And WOT doesn't mean much for timing, it mechanical advances by RPM and manifold vacuum at part throttle.

    1968 273 2bbl Engine Timing

No hate, just that a 273-2bbl is not a powerhouse and not much compression ratio either so advance it and tell us how it likes it. I've owned a couple, not impressed as far as power is concerned. But they are a good reliable slug engine. Yes adding 10 is at all RPM's

    1968 273 2bbl Engine Timing

2.5 ATDC? That sounds like a bad idea, a 273 2 bbl is already lame, advance it and see how it responds. Doubt it will hurt anything. Doesn't cost anything

    gas tank installation

Factory used a pad between the tank and body, but nothing on the straps to hold up the gas tank. Firm and tight, no movement.

    Correct Thermostat Temp

Next time look at the brass center piece the temp is usually stamped there. You can leave it or go down to 160 and see what that does. I put 160 in some cars. If i drive in cool temps I block part of the radiator to raise temp slightly. I don't like them over 200 ever. Just me.

What is your preferred cut/buff compound for smoothing out orange peel?

If it is sanded to 2000 why do you need HD rubbing compound? Too harsh?

What is your preferred cut/buff compound for smoothing out orange peel?

Sand out the orange peel, then buff the paint so it shines. Big jump from 1000 to 2000. Why do you need compound of its truly sanded to 2000?

    Vacuum reading on 318 @ 62 MPH cruise = 19 inches - is that normal / expected?

I've found some stations selling alcohol gas in the ethanol free pumps, dirty rats.

    Vacuum reading on 318 @ 62 MPH cruise = 19 inches - is that normal / expected?

That's why I looked into it, the middle fuel was exactly like the regular. Pinging same rate.

    Vacuum reading on 318 @ 62 MPH cruise = 19 inches - is that normal / expected?

I have a car that will ping on regular. If I mix 50/50 with super, no ping. If I buy the middle grade it pings just like straight regular. You are better off mixing it yourself. Turns out the procedure is the drivers put their leftovers on the mid grade tank, and since they sell way more...

Find a hill and coast down it, tell us the vacuum hen.

    833-OD Fluid Change?

So just put in 90 weight. Your trans is 1963 technology, not meant for ATf based fluid or synthetic. Yes the FSM says to use ATf in cold weather, but it's not really ever cold in Florida.

    Inland shifter gate spring replacement...

This spring places the shifter in the 1-2 gate instead of 3-4. The reverse is locked out and driver lifts the T handle to go to reverse.

    ‘73 Spindle/knuckle bearings Install w/hub

Put some grease inside the hub between the 2 bearings. Like uo to 1/4" deep, no more, need air inside also. The seal goes in gently with a hammer, not driving 16 penny nails here. Wipe a film of grease on the seal edge so it's not dry.
