What cam to use in a 318

Thanks for all the input we're a bit off rails but that's ok. Lots of cam recommendations from different perspectives. After looking at my intake and considering the heads I am going t upgrade my exhaust and most likely go with the 272 .455 [email protected] single pattern grind. with the magnum head...

What cam to use in a 318

Pistons are Sealed Power H814CP they are 1.755 compression height will get you to about .050 below deck depending on your block. Most replacements are 1.720. I had a minimum cut on the deck just to get a clean surface and the rest of the compression comes from the magnum heads. I am assuming...

What cam to use in a 318

Someone asked how you get to 9.2 compression, .030 overbore, magnum heads, and you can use 318 magnum pistons that have a taller compression height in a LA motor they work fine, as 5.2 and LA engines have basically the same rod You would want to re-balance but that's always a good idea when...

What cam to use in a 318

I think I am going to go with Oregon cams, we discussed a few different options including re-grinding my vintage 318 cam that is good shape and made of better material. I like the idea of something not mass produced from who knows where.

What cam to use in a 318

Well I am not a big comp fan either I have heard of lots of problems with them, although to be fair it's probably the lifters that cause most problems these days. A lot of this stuff is just not made of good material and is not sufficiently hardened. I have though about going roller but the cost...

What cam to use in a 318

I have the Hughes springs and retainers on the magnum heads with .510 lift the seals just clear so I wanted to stay a little less then that, that's why I was thinking around .500 max . My current 318 runs a factory 340 automatic cam which is 210 & 220 @.050 runs good but I doubt the compression...

What cam to use in a 318

I haven't heard 3/4 race for a while. I had thought of running something like the 340 manual cam but comp has similar stuff at .050 duration but shorter overall duration in their dual energy series. Another consideration would be I would like to be able to not have to run premium gas so perhaps...

What cam to use in a 318

By the specs I bet that would be a good runner probably too much lift for my 1.6 rockers without cutting the guides down.

This will probably open up a can of worms as this subject has been well covered but I am interested in some recommendations that folks have actually built and ran. Here are the particulars. Care is a 73 Dart swinger 3.23 geared 25" tires factory high stall converter in 904 with a TF-2 shift...

[WANTED] 10 X 2.5 in rear drum brake assemblies for 8.75 diff.

Probably because most of the 70's cars with 8 3/4 rears had 11" rear brakes, I am not sure I have seen one that didn't except for the original A body 8 3/4's that used special narrower brakes and drums

[WANTED] 10 X 2.5 in rear drum brake assemblies for 8.75 diff.

For 2.5 brakes the offset is the same, 11" brakes I used were 11X3. There is no standard Abody rear end with big bolt pattern you either have to re-drill the axles,or get custom axles. I used a station wagon rear and had it narrowed and the axles shortened and re-splined so I could use the...

[WANTED] 10 X 2.5 in rear drum brake assemblies for 8.75 diff.

The 8 3/4 rear from the donor station wagon that I had narrowed and the axles cut and re-splined had 11" brakes so that's what I used. Got to big bolt pattern and correct offset to center the bigger brakes and axles that way.

Sorry I was out of town until today, what I have in the shed is 11" backing plates with some hardware. I thought there was some 10" stuff there but it must have been used up somewhere.
