302 heads-Is it worth putting them on a stock 318

I never even looked at the date of the thread! I just noticed 302 and said to self, that's what I have! The original heads on my donor engine were cracked between some of the valve seats and Hughes was adamant that with the combo I was considering prepped 302's would be fine.

    Weiand Stealth Intake Manifold

Pretty, pretty casting, any opinions as to its suitability for a mild 0.030 over 318? I really would like to know the cylinder to cylinder flow with a 2" divided spacer.

I'm also using the solid lifter camshaft they recommended for these heads.

302 heads-Is it worth putting them on a stock 318

Geesh, I have a set of Hughes prepped, large valve's and ported 302's sitting on a shelf that I'm getting ready to put on a mild 0.030 over zero deck 318 I'm assembling soon. They'll be good enough for my use.

    Engle HEV 3945AS Camshaft

I guess I'm a little slow in my thinking. I sent this to Hughes and they did contact me back and he said, "follow the cam card". "Stay off the Internet" when I mentioned installing @ 103-104 degrees and 104-105 degrees. Grind Number Valve Lift 1.5 Valve Lift 1.6 Duration at .200" tappet...

    Engle HEV 3945AS Camshaft

Not installed yet. What's IVO? Intake valve opening? 15.5 degrees BTC at 0.050" tappet lift. Intake closing at 43.5 degrees ABC at 0.050" tappet lift. This is per Hughes catalog page.

    Engle HEV 3945AS Camshaft

I found an old page of a Hughes catalog giving what 496 Polara posted plus "valve lash settings: intake .018"-.020", exhaust .020"-.022". Emailed Hughes but no response. I bought this cam and lifter set many years ago from them with a set of their prepped 302 heads. Box says Engle, grind is...

    Engle HEV 3945AS Camshaft

Via Google I found out some information on the above camshaft but no cam card. LSA of 107 degrees. I'm going to rewatch David Vizard's You Tube video on Cam Cards are wrong to see what's what.

Hello everybody, I'm in the process of beginning to assemble a 0.030" over 318 that has been dormant for a few years. I've been lurking on Mopar sites for a long time and decided to join an active site. Hughes prepped 302 heads, Erson Hydraulic cam or an Engle with solid lifters. The Erson I...
