  • Thanks so much for the feed back. I am running long tube headers and the 302's have been cleaned up a bunch, so I'm hoping.

Maybe it's a visual thing since my current heads are open chamber and these are closed so I was hoping for maybe .5 bump in compression?

I'll post something when everything is in and running.
I checked my original heads, they were 69 cc from the factory. The 302s were also 69cc, so I didn't gain anything on compression. I swapped the heads hoping to take advantage of quench. As far as performance, I noticed a slight gain in power. I didn't get it measured but by "the seat of my pants" it seems a little more powerful. After I installed the 302s and did more research I realized that I really couldn't take advantage of quench with the pistons .039 down in the hole.
Also the exhaust ports on the 302s are much larger so your factory manifolds may not seal. I also installed the 340 driver and 360 magnum passenger (at the same time) to help take advantage of the larger exhaust ports...that may have been the thing that made it seem more powerful. It worked out so well I started selling the 340/360 manifolds sets to FABO members!!

I have a 67 Dart GT and currently looking for 14" ralley wheels w small bolt pattern. As long as holes are round and wheel is straight paint condition is not important.
