Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will dig into it this weekend and see what I come up with.
PS - Love that spark tester tool Super-Cuda! I need to get me one of those..
Could use some suggestions. I appreciate the help. My 360 recently had electrical problems. It would suddenly randomly, immediately shut down even tho it was running great... slow speed and/or freeway speed. Then got to the point it wouldn't start. I ended up swapping in a new ECU box and it was...
Thanks for all the help! You guys have given me some direction and things to get started checking. Thank-you!
The car is a 4 speed and the oil pressure guage is mechanical (oil line to the gage).
Oil level is full/normal.
I pulled the valve cover on the passenger side where the ticking has...
Hoping for some suggestions and I appreciate it. My 360 engine (stock compression but lumpy cam, stock 360 heads with double springs, edelbrock intake and 800 thermoquat carb) started ticking and would go away and return at times and now pretty much constant after warm up, now including spike...
I think it was the corrected pinion angle. That was part of the most recent upgrades. I fixed the yoke problem with a new driveshaft long ago and the horrible high speed problem persisted after that
Update: I got a new driveshaft the correct length installed a while back (I haven't been on this site for a while) and it turned out that it did not change anything.
Still a bad vibration over 60mph and downright scary beyond 70mph. So I've been driving around the past few years mostly staying...
Thanks James! I've purchased from PST before and been very satisfied.
Looks like the (original) 24:1 is not available but the 16:1 is available.
Can you (or anyone else) tell me what are the advantages and disadvantage of switching to a 16:1 box? Do many people like to go to the 16:1?
I didn't need to go any further than that first adjustment test you mentioned. The bearing has been running loose. And considering it's the original 1971 steering box I think I should just replace it.
Any good after-market suggestions?
Thanks again!
The guy who just did my front end alignment confirmed what I already was suspecting - my steering box is sloppy, has too much play. I guess its just been such a gradual thing over the years it took me a while to really notice.
1971 Demon with 360 (originally slant 6 car)
Can it be adjusted to...
PS - any suggestions for 8" wide rims, (15's with with large bolt pattern) that will fit my 275 tires and fit underneath without rubbing the wheel wells?
Lefty71 thanks for those pics!
ir3333 - I like some rake but really I just want to stop the wheels from rubbing when I have people in the car or go over bumps
After all of these responses (which I appreciate so much!) I think I just need to bite the bullet and buy some new rims. I didn't know...
66Dart273 - I will never forget how much you helped me with my 360 build 10 years ago. Your advice is always sage. And in this case you are right again that I should lower the front end a bit but the problem is the cheap headers I installed are already banged up beyond belief from hanging so...
