I use Pledge furniture polish. Works good on my RZR and dash pads etc.

I'm in Alberta and have a complete running 225 out of my 69 Valiant. Also have the Pertonix #1361A electronic ignition for a slant brand new if you are interested.

I cut mine back but not quite that far, maybe an inch. Doesn't really help anything, not worth the effort.
