Oh, I hear ya! Almost all the vehicles I've ever had my whole life started out as what most people would consider good candidates for the scrapyard. Even my newish Ram 1500 was a steal with a bad tranny. Fixed it myself and had a good truck for next to nothing. Only new cars I ever bought were for the wife, and I rarely ever touched them except to do maintenance.
