There are two current styles on the market.
The first (that we will not be using) is a booster motor that hooks directly to a power rack and acts as a hydraulic pump would have.
The second is an inline booster that the column passes through on its way to a manual rack. The only down side to this that I've come across (talking with Hyundai engineers) is that the load capacity on these units is not designed for heavier vehicles(3400lbs+), or significant loading(sticky tires being sawed back and forth). We have seen it used on a few racecars successfully; and it seems worth a shot if we can use an aluminium, QR factory box and put the light weight of this assist unit closer to the roll center of the vehicle.
