Finally Some Pictures of my 1969 Dodge Dart GT

Today I got the floor shift conversion done. First, I have to start by thanking FABO members Moparparts (Don) for the complete and correct 69 floor shift kit, Redfish (Ben) for the template for the mounting brackets (that thing is worth its weight in gold), and barracudakid (Eddie) for the correct steering column. All I have to do to fully complete the conversion is swap in the new column. Here are a few pictures of the process.

Here are the console mounting brackets tack welded down with the shift assembly loosely installed.

All three brackets tack welded in.

Driver side of the shifter. We pretty much took a shot in the dark to drill the hole in the hump and got lucky. For future reference for anyone doing this, a 2 3/4" hole saw is the ideal bit for the hole in the hump.

The console mocked up on the brackets.

Here are a couple of pics of the shift linkage underneath. This is the bracket that bolts to the side of the transmission that the rotating rod that drops down from the shifter passes through. We had to bend the bracket slightly to get the alignment perfectly straight.

Here is the linkage that wraps around the transmission pan.

Got to test drive it on the way home from the shop we were working on and the set up worked great. Now I can officially begin a full strip down as the car is getting ready to go for body work.
