I have a large pond on my property, 15 years ago we bought 14 coi fish from the pet store, they were just little guys. Have a couple hundred now. This summer I have not kept up on keeping the grass cut short up to the waters edge and down into the water. Usual summer has about 100 150 babies . This summer over a thousand it's insane. I feed them a coffee can of food after work each day. It is so much fun to watch them. Eagles, osprey, blue heron ,fox and my least favorite otters all take turns having a colorfull snack. Enjoy!

I think I wouldda put some bass, bream, catfish and shellcracker in. Coi ain't too good with tarter sauce.

We have a large garden, may have to sacrifice some lettuce. New one on me, thanks

I understand those can be pretty smart.

Borderline trainable.

thats so cool! I've always been fond offish keeping, but that many Coi is absolutely telling a story on your pond! To have that many, says a lot on the ponds condition and water.....

Spring fed? Some sort of water in and out has to be present and to keep it healthy is a whole other ball game!

NICE!

Pretty cool how it has made its own ecosystem . During the rain season all the roof water from house, barn and shop is piped into the ponds. First pond catches the water coming off the hillside above us, runs 150 feet down a concrete stream into pond number 2 which is where all the roofs drain into. This acts like a huge filter before it goes over the concrete spillway. When I first got the property it was basically a stump farm, 90 percent of the trees were sold off and I got the mess . This is what it has evolved into with a fair bit of beer in hand engineering.

If you look close you can see the little ones swimming after the food.
