I have a 2 core in my duster and on my engine test stand, no overheating issues ever.
When I researched mine several years ago, the 3 cores were only like 1/4 thicker than the two cores.
The 2 cores have 1" row of fins and the 3 core only had 3/4" row of fins in it.
