Got a buddy that is selling me a unused 67-75 mopar a body bolt on hotchkis subframe connector. What do you guys think of this set up?

I think your buddy is confused. The Hotchkis subframe connectors don't bolt in. They also don't generically fit all "a-bodies". There are two different versions, one for 108" wheelbase cars and another for 111".

Other than that, Hotchkis makes great stuff. But on an A body I wouldn't spend the money on subframe connectors because they're basically just straight tubes. You can make your own for much less.

Yes they are for 108" wheelbase and your right, then ends weld in place. I misunderstood when I saw them. I'd like to add this set up to my 68 barracuda.

IMHO weld in is the ONLY way to go, but I personally think all the kits that are out there are too light duty. (except the ones that weld to the floor pan also.)

My experience with them - the bolt in ones are "ok" for mild performance street use and that's it. I had a set in a Scamp years ago, bought the 108" wb ones and added 3" to them - they worked but it was a very mild 318 car - even with the light duty ones- you will feel the difference, your daily driver will benefit from them. Make sure you use good hardware and over-sized washers where you can. Trailbeast has it right though, the only way to go if you are in need of true performance is weld in - and as 72blu says, making your own (assuming you have the skill set and tools needed) is THE way to go. In short though, which route you decide on depends a lot on how you will use the car and whether or not you have future plans of restoration...
Of course if you're getting a decent set - new and unused for a good price, what the heck...

no issues here with my Hotchkis weld in ones with my little motor.

I've got the Mopar bolt-in ones on my duster of coarse we welded them in..:D:D

they'll work fine. I was being sarcastic in my post. My little motor is close to 600HP. Car stays tight all the time.

I have them. They are definitely weld in pieces. Not a straight tube, they have two separate pieces welded together in the middle. This allows the front to line up with the front frame rails that most subframe connectors do not do. They also have a front hangar on them so you get significantly more weld area. Quite strong. Other than welding them on you only need to move the front parking brake cable up a bit to clear the connector. Basically drilling a hole there.

Mine were blems, so they were pretty cheap. Totally unable to see them without almost crawling under the car.
