Due to shoulder injuries I'm wanting to convert my manual steering over to the borgeson conversion box on my 67 Barracuda. Has anybody used this? It looks to me like it's just a manual box with different gears.

Last I knew Borgenson was a more compact power box. There has been threads on here. Some of the early ones were controversial, some guys had problems getting them mounted without interference. I recall a thread some time ago, this seems to have been addressed

I'm planning "for now" and "if and when" I get mine back together to go "back to" a Chrysler power box. There's an old article, search for "pump it down" about reducing pump pressure to give you more "feel."

Supposed to be more 'firm', less 'one finger', faster and more modern feeling. Haven't driven one in an A body, but was at the exhaust shop talking to the guy who's doing the new exhaust to match up to the Dutra Duals, and was talking with him about routing around the power steering box and got to Jonesing for a smaller Borgeson box while we were talking about it...the old one is definitely a beast

Here's a write-up I read about this swap this morning: http://www.streetlegaltv.com/projec...-82-mopar-steering-box-upgrade-with-borgeson/

It's a newer GM (Camaro) power steering box modified to bolt into an A-Body. Uses your standard ptman arm, the standard Mopar pump, with custom lines that come in the kit. I think it works great. I have one in my '69 GTS.

Have any of you looked at Bergman Auto Craft? Thanks

I heard it was a Jeep box converted to fit.

Bergman is a good shop to deal with and a regular contributor on this site.

It is a Jeep box that has been modified and rebuilt; Bergman has the box, coupler, hoses, adapters....everything you need for a bolt it. It is on my short list.....

You might want to put it on a long list, they have product shortages.....

That's because they are concentrating all their efforts upon moving out of my hometown, where they have been for 102 years! They are going to the Carolinas somewhere. They'll be missed. Great company, but the tax situation with our Democrat ruled government in Connecticutis so anti-business they say they can't stay here. Another local employer will be gone.

But again, I'll say that the p/s box I installed on my '69 Dart has worked flawlessly, and it drives more like a normal car now

The first new car I bought was a 69 Swinger 340 four speed, manual steering, great car and drove just fine.....
