Has any one installed a sway bar on a 64 Valiant equipped with drum brakes , having a heck of a time with installation, bar comes in contact with ball joint on drivers side, other side is OK, "FRUSTRATED"

would appreciate some advice

Not me, but if you could post some pictures up and some more info about the bar surely someone can give some good advice!

are you sure the sway bar is for Early a body? they are a different size.
EDIT; just looked, they sell sway bar kits that include all year A body, 64 to 69. Still think early is narrower then late A body.

sometimes you have to slide the bar in the bushings a little to center it up...i've ran into that a couple times.

Tim is correct; early A sway bars look similar to 67-72 but are definitely not as wide as the later bars. As mentioned in an earlier post, pics would sure help in diagnosing your problem.

I don't know if this will help, but when I upgraded to late model "Cordoba" disc brakes on my 65 Cuda I had to shorten the sway bar end links because they interfered with the calipers:

This provided the clearance for me anyway...

Good Luck!

I understand the factory sway bar set up was an option, even on the 235 HP GT, and requires a special lower control arm for the option, is this correct? Thanks

The only difference on the lower arms are the mounting tabs. It is easy to make or buy tabs that mount on the shock bolts. Some front mounted disc Brake calipers interfere as well. Ways around that as well.

Seems like we lost the OP. Why do they ask a question, then disappear? Sounds like the OP has a sway bar for a 67+ car which is ~1" wider between frame rails, and thus front wheel track width. My early A's don't have the LCA tabs. My thought for a sway bar is to attach to the drag strut where it attaches to the LCA. Before anyone says "crazy, will bend the strut", that is the factory design in my 1965 Newport.

B Bodies up thru 66 used the same design.

It could work. I always thought that kind of connection was "soft" . sloppy.

I don't consider this advise. Why would you install a bar to induce sway?

Or is it advise?

Anti roll bar. happy? BUT not what they are called by ANYONE!
Anyone except Professionals. We all know what WE are talking about. What about the guy just starting out. Is it that hard to type "anti" and yes I'm happy. I was happy before you asked.

Thanks, after racking my brain , I realized after that I have to center it, then I will retighten every thing

Have installed front and rear on my 64 Valiant drum brake car. They are Addco batrs from Summit racing. Install went flawlessly and fitment is great. Sure made a huge difference in how the car drives for the better.
