What size flywheel is used with either a slant or V8 bellhousing with an 833OD. Friend is looking for a correct flywheel and I have both an early A 9.5 in and a later 10 in flywheel to offer him. Thanks for any help.

the V8 could use the 10 inch

He has a slant to use with the 833OD and said he was gonna run the slant for awhile then swap to a 273. He's got both OD bellhousings. So what size flywheel is used with each motor/bellhousing. I would have thought they would have been using a 10" for both by then.

EDIT: I misspoke after talking with my friend. He will be going with a 273/235 after he is tired of the slant.

I thought the slants and 273's used the 122 tooth and the 318 340 and 360 used the 130 tooth ?? but its the bellhousing that dictates flywheel size ,I believe.

The slant will need a 122 tooth flywheel, the 318 will need a 130 tooth flywheel. The clutch for the 318 will be a 10.5".

As above, It is the bellhousing that dictates the flywheel. He will have to get the special parts from Brewers Performance or Passon Performance to put the 10.5 bellhousing into an early A Body.

Doesn't the 273 use the 122 tooth flywheel or the 130?

They used a 122 in '67/'68. But that bellhousing has a 4.375" opening for the bearing retainer, the OD 833 transmission has a 5.125" bearing retainer. I know that you can swap the later 4.16" bolt pattern 4.8" outer diameter input bearing retainers onto the OD 833, that's what the big block guys do. You can open up a big block bellhousing with a 4.375" to accept a 4.8" bearing retainer. Big block dart has some tech and pictures on that swap (scroll down to almost the bottom of the page ) Mopar Big-Block A-Body 4-Speed Conversion

But those bells all use 10.5" or bigger clutches. I'm not sure that 67/68 122 tooth flywheel bell can be opened up to 4.8" from 4.375 without messing up the clutch fork mount. And if he has a OD bellhousing, it definitely uses a 130 tooth flywheel.
