Not everyone's cup of tea. 71 Demon

-
I ordered these today.... I wasn't really happy with the bulb cover on the other ones, these are as close to looking like the driving lights as I can find. keep posting update photo's of your progress I really like the direction your build is going.

I used a set of 2012 Wrangler headlamps for my Dart GT. Previously added the relays to the old sealed beams.

Coming in late here - first time I have seen this thread... Not everyone's cup of tea... I can see that, lots of guys are through and through purists and just don't go for this kind of thing. I, on the other hand, dig it big time!! That thing my good man is f#$%king awesome! Your modifications are tasty as hell - of course I'd get "fired" (wife would disown me) but I'll take two - the green one and an orange one please... $$ be damned, I expect to go to my grave with no $$ anyway.. :blob:

Any updates on the Demon? Did it ever get finished?
The only thing to report is that the car won, I'm keeping it!
Took the 360 back out put it in a buddy's 67 Barracuda and I'm going to go with a 3rd gen Hemi and TKO 600 (because i already have it) with a pistol grip.
I haven't decided which Hemi yet ($), but I'd love to go twin turbo.

Now the bad news. I can't afford the engine swap so the Roadrunner is going to be sold to finance the Demon.
In the meantime, we have a twin turbo Camaro to finish up (93, not exciting) a 65 Impala to paint and (maybe) a 70 Trans Am to restore. Before we can get to the Roadrunner.

Demon is on the back burner but at least I know it's staying with me.... I just couldn't let it go.

I think I decided to name the car POZEST! The name fits nicely on a license plate and the car looks evil. I think it has possession over me as well!

Update on the Demon.
I bought 6.1 crate from Cleveland power and performance. This setup comes with motor, 6 speed, gauges, tank, computer and steering column. I also bought an HDK frontend and of course it's top quality!
Now I'm doing all or the homework involved with putting this package together. I know I'm going to use the trans, I'm going with a custom driveshaft and a Core shifter to make it work. I would like to go with Speed Hut gauges since ive already built the dash. I'm just trying to decide what to do about the wiring, headers, oilpan.... blah blah $$$.....
It might be a little while longer as I'm broke once again!

Hot diggity!! That's gonna be a sweet (more than it already is) car with that drivetrain in it!!

I actually prefer closer to original, but your work is fantastic.

Thanks for the complements.
I don't mind doing the fab work to make this drive train fit but the wiring harness is going to be a whole other ball of fun.
I figured that I would get a wiring diagram and pull the harness out across a couple of tables and start redoing it to fit my needs.
Should I just be able to eliminate the wires that I don't need without fear of ruining anything?
The drive train is out of a 2010 SRT8 Chally with 17k miles on it.
Will everything work as far as the computer and wiring or will I need to buy anything else to make the electrical system work in my car. I know I will have to make it work with my gauges I'm just not sure what I can eliminate and what I have to keep!

Awesome choice for that car...If I had to do mine over I would buy a 6.1 and supercharge it.

My long range plan (after I get it up and driving) is to go with better pistons, cam and Pro-Charger or twin turbos for power AND looks!
Either way will be cool, but I'm more of a Roots/Whipple style kind of guy. Keep us updated on the progress.

wish I was closer.....I love hanging around builds like this ........it is a disease.

There's about 10 or so builds I wish lived closer, this definitely being one of them ......man could we have some fun not to mention the educational bonus of creative minds. Sorry I've had about 6 Stella's so far ....

Hey Denny, frontend looks great! Did you get the other steering joints back?
I've just started on the Bud select... maybe be a few more in my future!

So we finally got some time with the Demon. We mocked up the HDK member and I couldn't be happier. Got my TTI headers in that have been on back order and they are gorgeous as well.
My oil pan (Milodon 31003) is still on back order, according to Milodon it is being reworked and some issues will be addressed. At this point it's looking like my oil pan is 5 weeks out so.... I made a makeshift oil pan out of the aluminum from the bottom of an old storm door. Hey, I wanted to protect to underside of the Hemi and poor boys have poor ways.
This will allow me to fit the engine and trans in the car so I can start surgery on my floorpans and cross member.I'm hoping to get the drive train fit in this weekend and start engineering my tranny mount.

I love the fact that I can get the frontend this low and still have a great ride.
There's a load

of difference between how high the frontend used to sit and how far in the wheels sit in. You can turn these 8" wheels lock to lock and still have tons of fender room. No rubbing at all.

It's appropriate that you used a Demon for this build, cause that car looks wicked!!

Thanks for the complements guys, I appreciate it.
No problem Denny, use whatever you need. Not very good pics though.
