Hey All!

Looking for a reputable machine ship to bore out my 225 slant 6 and other work.

Thanks I'm advance!

Hey DustyDuster, is that name correct? Did a search for them and didn't come up with anything.

Ok, 'puter and I will not get along, give BigUS a blast, he's from Bolton, CT, but he seems to have many connections.

Thanks for all the responses.

The motor was delivered to J&R Machine in Putnum CT last week.
He's boring it .060" over and taking .050" off the deck, and checking the crank to see if it needs some loving. supplying the correct rod & main bearings, replacing the freeze plugs and cam bearings and supplying the new oil pump. Next up, we'll give him the head.

And if you haven't seen my thread, this is what some of the pistons looked like!?

Car ran GREAT tho, but within the last year started blowing oil out of the breather.......think we found the problem! ;)

very interesting I would like to hear some opinions on this .

I have no idea, hopefully someone on the forum will chime in.

I purchased the car from the second owner who got it from 12 years of storage....... who knows what or if they did anything to get the motor road worthy!?

She'll be running fantastic and looking somewhat better within a month or two tho. :)

to the op if you post this in the slant 6 forums it may get more responses .

I have limited experience with this type of failure, but ,I could guess.
Detonation induced preignition.
My guess is detonation broke the rings, and
the broken rings led to preignition,
and that spelled the end.
The clues are the lack of scuffing on the skirts, and the fact that you did not mention any holes in the piston crowns.
You will have to find the source of the detonation, which is usually too much heat in the combustion chamber, but I don't see the evidence on the skirts. So I guess it would then be just a case of too much timing,or too much compression, for the fuel octane rating.
So because of the extent of the damage, you will have to check everything; which is higher octane fuel, the compression ratio, the entire cooling system, and the entire ignition system, and if you can't find it there;the exhaust system.

So That's your slant 6 sitting there. Mine is the 273 that is in front of you in the que. John's a great guy and hope all goes well with your rebuild. I'm located over in pomfret across from big boys toys if you ever want to shoot the mopar stuff.
