For all of us to clarify exactly what "went dark" means... Is it still cranking with no spark? or does it not crank at all with the key in the crank position.
no spark could be anything from the coil, to the distributor, to a bad connection
no crank could be anything from a bad ignition switch, to loose battery terminals, to a bad neutral safety switch.
