Hey Everybody. Taking my Dart to the paint shop to fix up some small rust areas around 1 wheel well. Also, there are some suspicious spots under the vinyl top. I can have the spots repaired and then re-vinyl the top, or more $$ get the top painted. What do you guys think?
Vinyl top or hard top? I have seen them both ways and they look nice each way. I am leaning towards hard top because the vinyl top seems to be a place for water to collect, fading etc.
What do you think looks better?

Here is one with no vinyl.

I prefer big boobs. That's my opinion.

Put the Vinyl top on it , and store it out of the weather....

I replaced the black vinyl top on my notch, it will live the rest of it's life under cover while I own it. Wouldn't have added it though, it was born with one.

I'm not a fan of vinyl tops -- But -- The Black over Blue looks good.

You can always paint the vinyl top on. My sister had a 72 duster and best we could tell by the build sheet it came with the trim for a top but it was paint. B5 blue with a white top, she was blonde, and subsequently nicknamed smurfette

When it's my turn the vinyl top will disappear (and I'll add the V21 hood, cowl and scoops in gloss black & add a gloss black bumble bee tail stripe).

As stated above you could remove the vinyl top and paint the roof. I've seen a '69 Dart with, I believe, B5 top and B7 body (from the factory).

Only the OP can answer his own question lol..... Everyone sees things different.... But since you asked keep the top.... I like the color breaks but that's my preference.

I like the vinyl as well, and if that's the way it was built then that's the way it should stay. JMO.

I'm going against the grain here (pun intended) - lose the vinyl and paint it. Do you have the means to do some renderings? Plus paint is lighter so your car will be quicker... :D

well, to go w/ rustys big boobs, we like flat bellies too. it you

You can put a vinyl top back on and make it outlast you. The factory did a super shitty job of prepping the cars for vinyl tops. That is why they rusted. It had ZERO to do with the vinyl top itself, but 100% to do with the prep work.....or lack thereof. Properly prepped, a vinyl top will last virtually forever. You simply have to prep and install it correctly.

Be prepared to do major body work when you remove the vinyl most roofs from factory are not finished under vinyl usually about a 36 grit finish for better adhesion of vinyl top. You will have lots of finish sanding and blocking to prepare that roof for paint. Its not pretty under there from the factory.
