Coolant recovery tank on fender

-
I picked up the 2003 hyundai tiburon overflow bottle. Rockauto was running a closeout sale $4.95 each. I actually grabbed 2 of em. One for my 67 notchback , and 1 for the 69 notchback i have saved for my son. 2 of these bottles shipped with a 5% rock auto discount was just $16.99. Just got to get the mount brackets either from my local hyundai dealer or from the junkyard. Theres 4 of em left.

yup...2 little screws through the top of the frame extension right at the
rad support, can't even see it when installed.
Got mine from the dealer complete..hoses,cap,mounting bracket
and reservoir.

My dealer told me they need a tiburon VIN just to look up the reservoir mounting bracket. But can get me the bracket if i have a part number. Do you have the part number of the mounting bracket? I got a replacement tiburon overflow reservoir from rock auto. Just need the bracket now.

Not now...i sold that car over a year ago.I just asked my dealer for the complete
assembly for a 2003 Tiburon. He had no problem getting me the parts.

did some home work 2003 hyundai tiburon coolant recovery tank may be listed as a (Dorman) 603-325 bracket is listed as hyundai #(25455-2C000) about $11

yeah I also bought 2//just did the home work for others and to find the bracket

Thanks again for the part number for the bracket. I got 2 at delray hyundai in florida for $4.00 and change each, plus shipping. Total was $12.32 to my doorstep.

With shipping on these brackets and the bottles, it comes to about $14 per bottle and bracket assembly brand new. Not bad for a part that fits like it was made for this application.

:thankyou:thanks for the dealership //other dealers I was looking at want $20 + for shipping//
just pulled the trigger on 2 brackets myself @ delray hyundai in florida

Cool beans, glad i could help. Shipping should never cost more than the part. Especially when its a piddly little steel angle bracket.

BTW i just got my reservoirs in the mail today. It will almost take 1 full quart at the full mark. That should be plenty. I will need to cut and lengthen my HI note horn bracket to move the horn farther over to the right. I am thinking maybe 1/2"to 3/4"will do it. Just want a little space so things dont rub. Very close as is, almost touching with this aluminum radiator. I have spare horn brackets, but need to dig, as i may have some steel sheet the right thickness to cut and weld in. Rather do that than ruin a vintage horn bracket.

Delray Hyundai is gonna wonder whats up with these reservoir brackets, and why 2 people on the same day each requested 2 of em LOL.

Just went out there to test fit, and Holy Crap!!! These brackets and tank are the cats meow. They fit perfectly on the RH framerail. No need for any other mod to fit this except to drill 2 holes in the top of the framerail to bolt on the mounting bracket. I will be fitting up this setup either tomorrow, or within the next few days.

I thought these would mount to the fender or core support?
Anyhow, please post up the pic when it is installed,
C

Heres pix of the bottle being mocked up. I only drilled pilot holes for draw clecos. I will enlarge and tap the holes, or use rivnuts for some sems fender bolts.

I took the HI note horn and bent the bracket slightly to the right to clear the bottle, but dont care for it being bent like that. I may move its mounting holes to the right about 1/2", and weld fill the old holes in the radiator support, then i can straighten its bracket back up.

Heres pix
Matt

FYI those Dorman replacement bottles are junk and don't fit right. Mine broke and it's been on for a few weeks. Notice in post #42 in one of the pics the bottle doesn't sit all the way down on the bracket. You need to modify the bracket or possibly the bottle so it slides all the way onto the bracket.

I didnt put the bottle all the way down in the bracket yet, because i'm not ready to permanently install it all. Its just being mocked in place. Then the brackets gonna get painted. I didnt get the dorman one. I got a different aftermarket brand on closeout.

It seems kinda floppy the way it fits since the bracket attaches at the bottom, and theres nothing else holding the bottle from moving around . I may plan on using an "adel clamp" (aircraft wire bundle or fluid line mounting clamp) or something similar around the bottle neck attaching it to the radiator support to make it a bit more stable if it doesnt stiffen up a bit once i bolt the bracket in place.

I suppose the gen-u-ine hyundai bottle would solve that issue, or grinding the edges of the bracket so it slips into the aftermarket bottle a bit easier. The bracket fit the bottle i got a bit snug, that may be the reason yours broke. Too much tension on the plastic tabs.

It broke because the bottle didn't fit all the way down onto the bracket, and because it's made of cheap plastic vs the original one. I still have the nasty original one and it's way higher quality, its just horribly discolored and gross. I am going to get a genuine Hyundai one and be done with it.

Just warning you guys. Also I checked and mine wasn't Dorman, it was some other brand. I assume all the aftermarket ones are from the same manufacturer though so beware.

I appreciate the heads up, and will look at my bottle and bracket closer and prob grind on the bracket a little so it fits better, as well as support the neck. If it cracks, i will then prob buy a hyundai bottle. The pic you showed almost looks like the bottle was forced onto the bracket, making its tabs break.
