i have a chance to buy a 340 six pack intake. However the throttle bosses have been milled off. Why would this have been done and I'm wondering if the intake is still usable?

Depends on what your paying for the intake? If it's cheap. Sure make it work. If it's over $300? Just buy new.

You mean one like this? Yes I have one. You don't wanna know the cost to do one correctly. But I say go for it. Good luck. :)

I have all the rest of the parts. Just not the intake. You can't buy the intakes new anymore. They are completely sold out everywhere and I can't find one, other than this one. He wants 550 which is high to me with the bolt tabs ground off. I just can't figure how to make it work with those gone

Have a good welder fab some up from Aluminum and tack them on. Not a lot of stress in that area.

A very early picture before I restored it. Hope this helps?

Pm me if you want a close up photo of the area with dimensions. Always willing to help out a FABO member.

Keep checking around for these intakes. Mancini racing?
IMO, his price is to high. Just wait! Something will come along. It's just a matter of time. You have plenty of it.
Wait for a worthy part to spend your hard earned money on instead of a modified overpriced part.

If it needs to look correct, I don't see an option.
If you just want to run it, a simple sheet metal bracket under the carb bolts, a welded bracket, etc there's plenty of ways around that.

And I have no idea why someone would do that. Some Chevy bozo I guess.

Do you need the Edelbrock or will the Mopar unit be ok? I have a new Mopar never been installed.

I would check to see if anything lse has been changed or modified on it as well...especially the head mating surfaces. measure it to ensure they havent been milled.
